It seems I will have access to this board, maybe in July. It is DE2-style board with Cyclone IV chip, 115000 LEs and 8 bit VGA.

I have to do a scientific work with it, so time will be very limited... but this board.. i think it can fit AGA and 680x0 where x>=2... I will try to port a Minimig to this.

And, for students and other academic purposes it costs only a little more than standard de2

Yeah, it is $299 with academic discount...

I am thinking about getting one, right now...

If I only have some money... I would buy it at once. I have no free money (east european university salary...) but I can buy it as I need it for my PhD dissertation (the university will pay for the board). This needs some paperwork (done) and some time for them to process these papers. The board may arrive in July.

Yeah! My DE2-115 is on its way...just got a confirmation email from Terasic...Seems like it should get here fast cause Japan is near Taiwan...when I look at them though...
I really thought that the DE2-70 looked sooo awesome! They stopped making it though...plus it was a Cyclone II so like the DE1 and regular DE2...
Thing that I like about the DE1 though is that the USB cable is enough for the power when you are using it...the regular DE2 is not much better than the DE1...
little more space on the FPGA but still the same amount of SDRAM...etc...SDCARD can run in 4-bit mode...etc...

It is (very limited) time to start thinking about porting Minimig to DE2-115

Main differences:

1. SDRAM. 32Mx32bit. The controller needs rewriting
2. VGA. Full 24 bits, but it needs a pixel clock

The rest seems to be simply i/o assigning.

First try to recompile failed - memory initialization files missing.

It shouldn't be much of a problem. You can use the memory as a 32Mx16, ignoring half the data width. For video, just rescale the 4-bit data to 8bits (in Verilog, like so: VGA_R_OUT[7:0] = {vga_r[3:0], vga_r[3:0]}. You can use the 28MHz clock for the pixel clock.

The memory initialization files are build from firmware, so you will need the 68k assembler (included in repo) and OR1200 gcc port.

Has anyone ported the minimig to the DE2-115 board ?
I also bought it and now look for something to play with.

I had no time to port this. The problem for me is time to learn all this toolchain needed to compile an OR1200 code.
Doing a PhD dissertation equals no time to play.
If there is a precompiled code available, porting all of this to new board would be much simpler.

And there is one more toy: DE1-SOC. A Cyclone V board with 2 ARM cores and Linux available... so we can combine hardware and software emulation to get a better Amiga...

Do you already own this board ? I had just a look at Terasic Website and it´s not possible to order the DE1-SOC anymore.
