Do you have a VGA connector available along with use of a scan doubler in the Cyclone3 FPGA?

The new version is S-Video only. This is designed for TV use.
The board has an option for VGA output but is is not populated.

Frederic

Frederic,

Could the MCC be purchased with the VGA option or could you provide me the component information so that I could populate the VGA DAC option myself (Video DAC or R-2R resistors)? I am an EE who develops embedded systems; thus, I am pretty good at soldering and working with HDL (Verilog/VHDL).

Hello,

for the moment the first batch does not have VGA option, they are all mounted with S-Video.
IIRC, to get VGA, you have to unsolder two electrolyc caps (used for S-Video AC coupling), put an extra BC850 transistor and change/add few 0603 resistors.
The biggest issue I see is that you have to drill a hole in the faceplate.
If there is enough demand we will make some VGA only MCC.
But I have no problem writing instruction for the people who wants to hack their MCC (well, it will void the warranty :? ).

Regards,

Frederic

other possibility to solve this is such an adapter here:

http://cgi.ebay.de/VIDEO-S-VIDEO-AV-TV- ... 3a571bf2a0

or this, it has even more possibilities to connect things than the first one:

I bought an adapter at dealextreme for $36, the quality is OK but it does not support non interlaced mode very well.
I have to put a special option in the core to always force interlaced output.

Frederic

ah, i understand 8-) but do you think the problem was just YOUR adapter or do you think they all have problems with interlaced mode?
i thought about buying such a vga-box for myself, because i wanted to connect my old gaming-consoles and -computers to a new tft-monitor (video-cinch to vga).

Does the MCC have the ability to run the AGA core from Yaqube ?
Does the MCC have expansion-slot for CPU cards etc ?
Does the MCC have the 68000 in the FPGA or externally ?

Just curios, if the MCC is going to be cheap, can this be an alternative to the Replay board ?

A comparison list of MiniMig vs MCC vs Replay would be awesome!!

The ECS/OCS Minimig takes 50-60% of the FPGA resource, the only question is how good is the S-Video output with AGA.

No, too expensive. Anyway the TG68 CPU is fast enough.

Everything is in the FPGA.

It depends what you are looking for.

Frederic,

I looked at MCC website, and I do not see the price.
When will you let us know the price for the MCC?
