Any news from a 'battlefield'?

Just dragging my feet as usual. I decided I needed something a bit more than simply a test so I have spent some time looking for a colour font and a mod. Found both now.
If I can just find time between playing WoW and everything else then I'll be right at it.

(And in the meantime I have been prodding the files to start checking if there is a way to set up 256 24/32-bit colours at $C00, and if the C-One has more bw available, or anyway use the bw there is for a byte chunky mode. Still just looking.)

Time passes. Thorin sits down and sings about gold. (Who had thought that quote would ever become near-current again!)

Inspiration happened. Code didn't want to happen - how much you forget. After much googling and testing I got a tiny proof of concept coded.
And next to nothing happens.

It looks like it is spending cycles writing to registers without nothing happening at all. Kind of like the blitter isn't listening. The colours change for nearly 2(?) lines before it looks like it is done and idles again. I could take a picture if interested.

19 bobs of 2 A writes, 2 D writes, 1 size write = 190 cycles which rhymes with less than 2 lines?

Well, my testing procedure was borked it turns out. Took me a few turns to make a copper blit working first of all.

So there is actually something happening, but from what I can guess it isn't properly respecting the blitter busy status.
You can see from the attachments what it looks like on my screen. Run the adf on a normal amiga and you see a single diamond in the upper left corner.
