Hello,

For those having the new OSD style ATH, be careful as the latest SAM-BA version 2.12 does not work with some cards and especially the minimig !! On either Windows 7 or windows XP, the card is well detected but the main SAM-BA window never open after clicking on "Connect". Moreover, on Windows 7 Minimig is first detected as a GPS hardware.
The result is that you will not be able to use your minimig anymore while you do not find a way to load the firmware (as you must erase it for activating usb connection).

Someone finally managed to get it work on Win 7 but did not clearly identify how to do this.

Does someone have an old version of SAM-BA (2.7 seems to work on XP) ?

Thanks by advance,

Therefore I always use the SAM-PROG tool from Atmel.

Otherwise I got same trouble as mentioned, the ARM was not detected or the tool just did not response to the "connect" button.

Ok, I managed to find the SAM-PROG 2.4 tool downloading AT91-ISP.
Unfortunately, it seems to work only with JTAG cable :-(.

What kind of cable/tools/drivers do I need ? I have no RS232 port on my PC, only USB?

thanks by advance,
PS I tried also to use SAM-BA 2.7 but I got "No Valid Processor Id found error".

If you have a machine running Linux, try Sam_I_Am:
http://claymore.engineer.gvsu.edu/~ster ... /Sam_I_Am/

Run it like so:
Sam_I_Am -x flash_sam_i_am
where flash_sam_i_am is the config file attached to this post. You need the firmware file (named firmware.hex) in the current directory when you run this.

Hello,

I effectively tested Sam_I_Am but stopped when I saw that it used HEX file (which is not in the previous archive).
Many thanks for your config file !

[EDIT] I certainly need to update the fil, at least the first line : "open /dev/ttyACM0" with the appropriate device ?

To Boing4000, have you got the HEX file equivalent to the firmware.bin you gave for the Arm controller ? or a link/Github where it has been generated ?

Unfortunately, murphy's law applied and I broke one arm controller board pin when I removed it from the socket to replace it temporarily by the pic chip (which had also a too old firmware for working with my version of minimig.bin). I need to repair it first before trying to reflash. :-(

Many thanks for your help !

Hello,

To keep you up to date, I finally managed to get the board connected on a virtualized debian distro. (not working with Latest Ubuntu version ??).
I converted the bin file with a windows XP tool called bin2hex. and try to launch the sam_I_Am command. It seems that the board is detected at the beginning as it get an answer when it executes this line "info flash". I can see that no regions are locked but the process is stopped at this time like the info flash result was put in a "more" or "VI" command and was waiting for ESC :q. (not sure i am clear). When I execute ESC :q, I see some logs of the process but it indicates that the SAM-BA was not reached.

If someone can help me ... ?

Many thanks,

Until now I never need a .HEX file for ARM flash.

Since no other tool worked for me too, I installed a WinXP (32Bit SP2) in VBox and used the SAM-PROG tool from Atmel to flash the ARM chip via USB.
This is the best solution for me.

HEX file was just for using Sam_I_Am tool, otherwise bin file is sufficient.
