I am an old Amiga600 user and I just find out about minimig v1.1 . For the last 3 days I am googling around and now I am 100% confused!

I just want to play old good amiga games, like I was doing to my Amiga 600. A minimig with 2mb would fit my needs? A600 had only 1 mb of ram! Everybody is talking about the ARM controller, but do I really need one? I am not quite sure what I am geting and what I am losing among the three configurations:

1) minimig 2mb
2) minimig 4mb
3) minimig 4mb+ arm

I am thinking about buying me the minimig from amigakit.

Yes the standard Minimig V1.1 board (shipped with 2MB of s-ram) will do perfectly.
Many game even dont work with too much of available, or even different type of memory.
Most are working best with chipmem only (some even want just 0.5MB of it).

Newest release (YB100818) currently leaks of PIC firmware due to too less free time.
But there will be a matching PIC firmware for this release.
In general the ARM controller board (as PIC replacement) is an advantage even for ADF gamers! You will gain more loading speed and a hi-res OSD with a scroll of long adf title name.

The extra memory (4MB expansion) upgrade was invented to provide a bit more available memory for working issue. For gaming its not required.

So if I understand correctly, for casual gaming the small minimig is okay. For hardcore gaming + apps the 4mb version with the arm controller.

Thats right. Sorry if I cant explain it more clear, english is not my native language.

The ARM and the 4MB expansion will provide speed-up and more workspace memory to the FPGA-Amiga system, just like in any real Amiga.
But there is little game title that will gain advantage from more available memory.

The PIC will do nearly the same job as the ARM chip.
PIC is much slower in data transfer but for normal ADF games it will be sufficient. For HDF usage the ARM strongly is recommended.

When you just want to play some old game, a standard Minimig (PIC & 2MB of ram) is a fine choice :)
