A quick note to say that in 14 days I had Amigakit receive and return my Minimig v1.1 board with the added RAM. All the way through teh service they kept me updated with regular emails and I've put it back into the keyboard case and tested it by booting Workbench and running a few games.

Well done guys - great service!!!

So, for most software what is the best RAM configuration? 2MB Chip with 1.5MB Slow or 1MB Chip with 2.5MB Slow?

Some game dont like anything else then chipmem. If any slowmem or fastmem is available, this games will crash.

Best for most game should be: 2.0MB of chipmem and 0MB of slowmem.

Some very rare and old game even dont like more then 512KB of chipmem (e.g. Dugger).
Fortunately most game will work with any size of available chipmem :)

Cheers for the tips. I can see the need to cobble together a games list with multiple columns for different configurations and "ticking" or "crossing" whether a game works or not.

You can buy the chips directly at Farnell UK for half the price (inluding local UK VAT which is the lowest in the EU). The shipping cost within the EU is 5 Euro. You will get your package in two day's time (DHL). I think it's an option worth considering if you can make the mod yourself.

I don't think speed wise, there'll be any difference between chip and slow memory, but as has been mentioned, sometimes old badly written games will act weird around slow mem
