Before I take the plunge I have a few question for the pros!

1. Does Minimig support .adf write?

2. Does Minimig support .hdf write?

3. Does Minimig support long filenames saved in SD Card?

4. Is there an SD Card size limit?

5. Does Minimig support folders and sub-folders in which adf files are saved?

6. Does Minimig read .adf files at real time 1:1 or you can speed load?

7. Is tere an updated list of incompatible games?

8. When was the latest version of the core released?

9. Where can I download the latest version?

10. How many drives (DF0: DF1 DF2 etc.) are mountable?

11. Is it worth spending the extra money to get the 4MB version?

12. What about ARM?

13. Does Minimig support CRT effects? Other than normal scanlines?

14. Is there a way to connect a Minimig to a modern PAL TV (that supports 50hz of course) from VGA to HDMI or Component without conversion?

15. Do hires resoluttions still flicker, even when using VGA output?

16. Can you enable scanlines even when outputting 15khz (for when connecting via Scart to an LCD TV)

That's it (for now). :ugeek:

Yes, Yes and Yes. (Note that Minimig can't create a new .adf or .hdf - it can write to pre-existing ones though.)

4. Is there an SD Card size limit?

The latest firmware supports SDHC so, no, basically no limit.

5. Does Minimig support folders and sub-folders in which adf files are saved?

Yes

Both - there's a "Floppy Turbo" option in the menus.

7. Is tere an updated list of incompatible games?

Not that I'm aware of - someone else will know that better than me.

8. When was the latest version of the core released?

Ummm.... fairly recently? Again, someone else will be able to answer that more specifically than me!

9. Where can I download the latest version?

Somewhere on this forum.

Quote:
10. How many drives (DF0: DF1 DF2 etc.) are mountable?

Four.

11. Is it worth spending the extra money to get the 4MB version?

Depends whether you want anything more than an A500 substitute. If you're only going to play .adf games, then no. If you're going to do something that needs an Amiga with more than 1.5 meg of RAM then yes.

Quote:
12. What about ARM?

Definitely. The ARM firmware is faster and more up-to-date.

13. Does Minimig support CRT effects? Other than normal scanlines?

No - just two strengths of the scanline effect.

You can get a Minimig to Scart cable, which is of course analogue RGB. There's no simple route to HDMI or component.

15. Do hires resoluttions still flicker, even when using VGA output?

Yes.

16. Can you enable scanlines even when outputting 15khz (for when connecting via Scart to an LCD TV)

No.

AmigaDOS format is writeable.
Some games (Turrican2, Carrier Command, Pinball Fantasies...) use own sector format and can not save the highscore or settings.

7. Is tere an updated list of incompatible games?

Currently only 2 or at max. 3 games do not load from the original ADF image.
This will be: Arcade Pool and The Deep.
Possibly a 3rd one but I can not remember right now.

8. When was the latest version of the core released?

Last core release for the V1.1 Minimig board was at 2013.10.20

9. Where can I download the latest version?

Here: FSB131020

Actually a CRT 15KHz screen will show its own scanlines.
Only LCD TV do not due to internal scandoubler.

I don't know how a 15KHz scanline effect may look like because every 2nd Amiga scanline will be at 50% brightnes.

Oh, wow. Man I'm impressed thanks a lot :)

Regarding question 16th, I would like Scanline effect on an RGB/Scart cable in case I connect it to a modern TV (flat screen).

I guess Arcade Pool and The Deep will work if WHDLoad is used?

Also, will ALL adf versions of the above two games not work or just some of them? Thanks :)

The WHD client version should work since the problem is in the Floppy disk loader routine.
This loader code is the same even if cracked by different groups.

Fantastic :) Now... waiting for someone to have the Minimig 4MB+ARM setup in stock, or FPGA Arcade to happen.

All unpatched adf`s of "ARCADE POOL" make problems on the Minimig. But some time ago, i produced a working adf-diskversion of this game with the help of my AR3-cartridge. And this version runs absolutely perfect on the Minimig. Also saving works.
Here you find it (scroll down): viewtopic.php?f=3&t=111&start=350

There is also a version of "THE DEEP" which loads on the Minimig. But you can only play one time then you must make a reset, because the Minimig has problems with this game. but its better than nothing.

In the whole the compatibility of the Minimig is very high now. Finding not-working software is difficult meanwhile.
