Is it an old battery that wasn't holding the usual charge?

As far as I can tell, each battery provide 7.2V and 1.6Ah, they are conected in series?
The lcd backlight will consume about 90% of the charge. Without that Minimig and the lcd electronic alone would run about several hours :)

I was thinking about the battery in one of my old laptops. When it was new it would last 2.5 hours whereas now it will only last around 30 minutes.

Yep thats right, I also do have this problem in an old laptop.
However desktop lcd screen dont really care about its power consume. In laptop each part is designed (or should be ;)) to consume as little power as possible.

Still this mod is a very nice solution of portable Minimig :)

Oh yes, I agree.

We're getting very close to an Amiga laptop here.

Have you seen this C64 laptop:

yes i know this site since a longer time. benjamin heckendorn made portables of nearly all kinds of retro-computers and retro-consoles until now. and his projects looks completely professional all the time, like they were produced by the factorys itself. but sadly i think, he make this things just for himself and dont sell them or make series of it.
there are funny things, like a "super-nintendo-portable" with the big snes-modules in the back or an "atari-vcs-2600-portable". cool !!! :P
