For now I am happy to just use VLT or Term and zmodem/xmodem for transfering files up and down, but one of these days I will sett up Miami with PPP and get the Minimig/MIST online :)

Oh, there are plenty of them: VLT, VLTjr, and of course, the flagship of them all - Term - by Olaf Barthel :)

I support the Kickstarter project for new A1200 cases, and if successfull, it will be able to house the MIST, a Raspberry Pi, and the Keyrah USB-A1200 keyboard adapter all within a fancy colourful new A1200 case, and maybe even a new keyboard may appear :D

Today I made an ARexx script that updates the system time of the Amiga from the Pi, and I am pondering on picking up more ARexx coding together with DOpus Magellan again, I should be able to let DOpus communicate with a dedicated shell environment on the Pi, to manage filesystems the Pi has access to, do upload/download etc.

Also, I have been thinking... Instead of using a USB ethernet dongle to provide an ethernet interface for the Amiga or AtariST, how about using one of those ARM based "computer on a USB stick" systems (like this one http://inversepath.com/usbarmory for example), that can provide USB-ethernet, USB-RS232, USB-audio, USB-storage etc, so in _principle_ one could plug one into a MIST and with a lot of tinkering, have Amiga or AtariST with ethernet and/or much improved (I would think) serial port (with null modem link to a tty device in the other end), extra storage, a sound card... heck, some of these systems-on-stick thingies have HDMI output, so why not RTG over USB, hehehe, ehm... one can dream

Posting this from AWeb 3.2 demo, online using PPP with the RPi as NAT router, using RoadShow demo :)

Primitive stuff, and slow - think I will stay with fancy Term and zmodem protocols for upload/download for now :)

Wow this is really cool stuff guys! Keep posting!! I wonder how you made contact with the pi (on the pi-side) - did you use only 3 cables? So coooooool!

Yes, only 3 tiny cables - TX-RX, RX-TX and ground. Be aware that this is only safe because both Pi and MIST are modern and use 3.3V and not 5V. If you want to connect to a real serial port, you need a RS232 leveler like a MAX3232 etc. in addition to the 9 pin DSUB.

My long term plan is to replace this cable with a tiny switch that lets me select between the MIDI module and a Bluetooth controller that will give me wireless null-modem.
