I got my MIST a couple of days ago and have been playing a little with it :)

One of the things I did was to copy in the Amiga OS3.9 disk image and custom kickstart that I built for my Minimig, and it seemed to work well, until I noticed that I did not have the amount of Fast RAM I was expecting. So I started experimenting, and it seems like the 24MB of Fast RAM easily "fall off", for reasons I do not know. Sometimes when I reset the Amiga side, the 24MB disappears, sometimes running SetPatch - even OS3.1 setpatch - makes the 24MB disappear, sometimes they disappear when the box is up and running, which of course causes the system to freeze up in glorious ways :) This does seem to affect both the AGA core and the "ECS-only" core.

Am I the only one who experience this? Could it be hardware? A full reset using the power button seems to always give me back my RAM, at least from start. Selecting 4MB instead of 24MB also seems much more stable, they tend to stick around much longer.

To elaborate, when the Fast RAM falls off, the output of "Showconfig" also shows "No Boards", but a simple ctrl-a-a and looking in Boards on Early Startup, may or may not show the boards.

Hi,

this could be a timing problem in the minimig core, I'm looking into it already. Will let you know if I find something.

BTW, how did you make a 512kB custom ROM? (there is no support for 1MB ROMs in the current core, it will be in the next).

Great, looking forward to test it :)

I create my own OS3.9 kickstarts using RomSplit and Remus:

If you want I can upload the 3.9 kickstart and hd image for you to download, it's a few years old, I intend to build new one with latest layers.library among other things. Also, I will try hard to get MacOS running under Shapeshifter and do all the crazy stuff noone else seem to care about ;)

Sendt you a PM :)

That said - the problems seems to have gone with release 1.1 :D
I will try to reinstall OS3.9 from scratch on an image and see how it goes.

Your image & ROM work ;) (I just changed the screen to a non-interlaced one)

Yes! :D

I have it running nicely here as well, since 1.1 it works well.

However, I tried to install OS3.9 from scratch, and there seems to be an issue with SetPatch when it loads the ROM update, or maybe even when using LoadModule - I need to experiment more :)

Now, enjoy playing Transplant - it is quite addictive ;)

I tried installing OS3.9, together with BB1 & BB2 on my MiST board, but I didn't enable the ROM update in BB2. This way it works just fine, no problems.

It's been a while since I used OS3.9 on anything other than WinUAE+RTG, I forgot that it's not really too good for 'normal' resolutions, you'd want to use either RTG or at least one of the interlaced modes, which are not really usable for me without a flicker-fixer. I think I'll stick with my OS3.1+ClassicWB ;)
